FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The main suspect in a deadly hit-and-run in Fort Wayne is in jail. Police arrested 52-year-old Samuel Lovellette Friday evening.
He’s blamed for hitting a young woman on August 25th at State and Spy Run then driving away.
That woman, 21-year-old Keilan Moreira, died at the scene. Fort Wayne Police released Lovellette’s pictures and information online, which they say brought in tips that led to his capture.

The Fort Wayne Police Department was able to make an arrest of the suspect involved in a fatal hit and run that occurred on August 25th, 2021 at 1040 East State Blvd. A 52yr old male, Samuel Eugene Lovellette, was arrested in the evening hours yesterday as the primary suspect. The police department previously sent out requests for the communities help in this investigation. As a result, we received valuable information from the community. We would like to thank the news media for getting information out the public and for all the responses from the community.
The charges for Samuel Eugene Lovellette; the suspect in a fatal hit and ran accident that occurred on 8/25/21 at 1040 E. State Blvd. are: Leaving the scene of an accident which resulted in death (Level 4 felony) and Obstruction of Justice (level 6 felony).
