GRANT CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Grant County Sheriff’s Department says that a high school student was arrested on Tuesday and charged with raping a student on a school bus in January.
Brandon Blanchard-Vigar, 18, of Marion, is now facing charges of rape and sexual battery.
A statement from the Grant County Sheriff’s Department says that police were contacted by Oak Hill School Corporation administration on Jan. 12 in regard to allegations.
The Grant County Sheriff released the following:
On 01-12-2022 the Grant County Sheriff’s Department was contacted by the Administration of the Oak HillSchool Corporation reference allegations of misconduct, sexual in nature, involving two students on a school bus.
The Detective Division was contacted continuing the investigation with the Grant County Child Protective Services, the Grant County Prosecutors Office, and with the cooperation of the Oak Hill School Corporation. The investigation showed the allegations involved an 18-year-old student and a 16-year-old student.
As the case progressed it was turned over to the Grant County Prosecutors Office for review on possible charges.
On 02-15-2022 an arrest warrant was issued, out of Grant Superior Court II, for the arrest of Brandon Gage Blanchard-Vigar, a white male, date of birth 08-12-2003, last known address was Marion Indiana, on the charges of; Count 1- Rape, a level 3 Felony and Count 2- Sexual Battery, a level 6 Felony. Bond was set at $30,000.00 cash or 10%.
Brandon Gage Blanchard-Vigar was arrested at 5:47 p.m. by Deputies from the Sheriff’s Department and transported to the Grant County Jail.
This investigation is still on going and more charges could be forthcoming.
