FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police continue to investigate after a man’s body was found on the River Greenway close to Coliseum and Anthony on Thursday.
Police say that someone reported a “man down” around 4:20 p.m.
When officers arrived they found the man and determined that he was dead.
Police think that high river levels may be a factor in his death.
The Fort Wayne Police Department released the following:
On Thursday March 30th 2023 at approximately 1720 hrs dispatch received a call about a ‘man down’ on the River Greenway (Maumee Pathway) Between Anthony and Coliseum Blvd near Carrington Field (700 N Coliseum). Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Dept arrived to find a deceased adult male in the tree line near the river. At this time, it is unknown how the male died or how he came to arrive at this location, however the recently high river levels are believed to be a factor.
This incident remains under investigation with the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroners offices, and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. At this time the greenway between Coliseum and Anthony is closed to pedestrian traffic until the scene can be processed.
