UPDATE (February 2, 2024): The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified a child who was shot and killed last month.
The following was released:
On Saturday, January 27th, 2024, the Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of a shooting in the 2900 block of Shawnee Drive, in Fort Wayne. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
The victim was identified as Dailoni Edward Hollis Daniels, 23 months old, male, Black of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Notification has been made to the legal next of kin and an autopsy has been completed. The Cause of Death is Gunshot Wound of Head and the Manner of Death remains under investigation.
The incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say a child has died after being shot Saturday night. Officers responded to the 2900 block of Shawnee Drive just before 8 p.m. and found them in critical condition.
The child was pronounced dead at a Fort Wayne hospital. No one has been arrested but police said there was no ongoing threat to public safety.
The FWPD released the following:
Fort Wayne Police Officers responded to the 2900 block of Shawnee Dr at approximately 1951 hours reference a shooting involving a young juvenile victim. Officers located a shooting victim inside a home. Officers provided aid to the shooting victim along with medics and fire department personnel. The victim was in critical condition at the scene and transported to a local hospital. The victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The shooting incident remains under investigation by the FWPD Homicide Unit, Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office. Currently there is no threat to public safety related to this shooting
