Neil Young made an unexpected return to the stage at a Vancouver benefit concert honoring environmentalist David Suzuki’s 90th birthday.
The appearance took place at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, where Young performed solo acoustic versions of Heart of Gold and After the Gold Rush. The set marked his first live performance in nearly a year.
The event brought together several well-known guests, including figures from music, film, and environmental advocacy. Young has long been connected to environmental causes, making the moment a fitting part of the celebration.
The performance also came months after Young canceled his planned 2026 tour dates, saying he had decided to take a break from touring. No new tour plans have been announced.
Young remains active musically. He has recently worked on new recordings with The Chrome Hearts and has upcoming archival and live releases connected to his catalog.
