Carly Rae Jepsen is entering a new chapter shaped by family life, creative freedom, and a wider musical palette. In a recent interview, the singer discussed how marriage and becoming a mother influenced the ideas behind her new double album, Day and Night.
Speaking about the project, Jepsen explained that it was not originally planned as a double album. The songs gradually separated into two distinct moods. The Day side explores warmer, more organic sounds with folk and psychedelic influences, while Night moves toward synth-pop, disco and dance music.
The album also reflects major changes in Jepsen’s personal life. She married producer Cole M.G.N. in 2025 and welcomed their first child in 2026. Several songs were written while their relationship was developing, giving the record a close connection to that period.
Jepsen has also been balancing music with work in musical theater. She is contributing songs to a Broadway adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You, expanding her creative work beyond traditional pop releases.
