ATLANTA (ADAMS) – The CDC says public health officials are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella illnesses. The agency says the illnesses are linked to contact with backyard poultry, which can carry Salmonella.
As of April 13th, 34 people infected with the outbreak strain of Salmonella have been reported in 13 states. Illnesses started on February 26th to March 31st, with at least 13 people hospitalized.
The outbreak is mainly focused in the Midwest and includes Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Maryland, New Hampshire, Maine, Florida, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
