WHITELAND, Ind. (ADAMS) – Governor Mike Braun held a ceremonial bill signing ceremony for the state’s cellphone ban at all K-12 schools on Wednesday in Whiteland.
Braun officially signed the bill on March 5th, a few days after the General Assembly approved it with bipartisan support.
The new law takes effect July 1st and requires schools to ban student use of all personal wireless communication devices for the entire school day. Exceptions will be made for emergencies, medical needs, and students with 504 and Individualized Education Program plans.
