FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Allen County Public Library (ACPL) says work continues on its Facilities Master Plan with a new round of community-focused Listening Sessions.
The informal, drop-in events will give residents an opportunity to learn more about upcoming branch improvements, share feedback, and help shape the future of their neighborhood libraries.
ACPL representatives put out the following:
The sessions mark an important milestone for the Aboite and Dupont branches, both of which were selected for significant upgrades during the first phase of the Facilities Master Plan. Planned enhancements are intended to improve accessibility, update community spaces, and better support the ways patrons use the library today and in the future.
The following was released:
“We want these spaces to grow alongside the communities they serve,” said Susan P. Baier, ACPL Executive Director. “These Listening Sessions give residents a chance to be part of the process in a meaningful way. Hearing directly from patrons helps us create libraries that are welcoming, flexible, and designed around real community needs.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet members of the project team, including representatives from Group 4 Architecture and Luminaut, view preliminary concepts, ask questions, and provide input. In addition, self-guided engagement boards will be available at each branch during regular operating hours for patrons who would like to participate independently. The schedule will be as follows:
Wednesday, June 24
10 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at the Dupont Branch (536 E Dupont Rd., Fort Wayne)
4–7 p.m. at the Salomon Farm Park Farmer’s Market (817 W Dupont Rd., Fort Wayne)
Thursday, June 25
10–11:30 a.m. at the Aboite Branch (5630 Coventry Ln., Fort Wayne)
Noon–2 p.m. at the Jorgensen Family YMCA (10313 Aboite Center Rd., Fort Wayne)
If patrons are not able to attend one of the Listening Sessions, public Engagement Boards will be at the Aboite and Dupont branches through July 15. They’ll be available during library hours for patrons to share their ideas.
