FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Police Department says a man has suffered life-threatening injuries in a moped crash in downtown Fort Wayne Saturday night just before 9:30. He crashed the moped at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Lavina Street, just east of Electric Works. Police say he was southbound on Fairfield when he left the road and crashed. The intersection was reopened just before midnight.
The FWPD released the following:
On June 27, 2026, at 9:23pm, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a single-vehicle injury accident at the intersection of Fairfield Ave and Lavina St . Officers arrived and located an adult male who was in life-threatening condition. He was taken to a local hospital where he remains in life-threatening condition.
At this time it appears the adult male was operating a moped southbound on Fairfield Ave when, for currently unknown reasons, he left the roadway and crashed the moped near Lavina St. There were no other persons or vehicles involved.
The area of Fairfield and Lavian remained closed until just before midnight while investigators processed the scene, taking measurements and searching for witnesses or video surveillance to assist in determining what happened.
