Chinese singer Liu Yuning is widening his musical reach with JUMP, a collaboration with Colombian artist J Balvin tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The recent campaign announcement describes the track as a meeting of international rock and traditional Chinese music, giving Liu another opportunity to connect with listeners beyond his home market.
Released May 6, the Chinese-language version reworks Van Halen’s JUMP with a different musical identity. Production combines electric guitars and drums with traditional instruments including the pipa, guzheng, erhu and Tang drum. Guitarist Steve Vai and drummer Travis Barker are also part of the production team, while Liu contributes vocals and rap alongside J Balvin.
The collaboration arrives as Liu continues developing his solo catalog. His second studio album, Liu Yuning’s, follows his 2019 debut Ten and adds another chapter to a career that has included solo recordings, soundtrack work and international collaborations.
JUMP places those different parts of his musical background into one release, combining Chinese instrumentation, rock influences and an international partnership connected to one of the world’s largest sporting events.
