FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Art This Way program in Downtown Fort Wayne is seeking qualified artists to apply for a unity-themed mural.
Art This Way and Downtown Fort Wayne has partnered with DeBrand Fine Chocolates on a mural project located at the 600 block of South Harrison Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46802. This 4,000 square foot mural is meant to celebrate our community.
This is a country-wide request for qualifications, with an option for artists to issue a proposed design concept,” said Art This Way program coordinator Alex Hall. “The mural along South Harrison Street will add interest and beautify the area between The Landing and Promenade Park.
The following was issued this week:
Art This Way and Downtown Fort Wayne are committed to cultivating, encouraging, and preserving a culture of diversity, mutual respect, and inclusion. We believe that every individual is a unique part of the cultural tapestry that enhances our daily lives.
The collective sum of these individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, innovation, self-expression and various talents enriches our culture. It adds to our quality of life and our city’s capacity for achievement.
We not only embrace our differences—we celebrate them—not always with parties or parades but by living, working, and laughing together side by side in daily life, respecting each other, and realizing that our similarities bind us far more than any differences can separate us. We want this mural to be a vibrant, uplifting, visual representation of our city’s diversity that celebrates how we welcome all into our community.
“As lifetime residents of Fort Wayne, my wife Cathy and I are so pleased to get to add this uplifting mural celebrating Fort Wayne’s unity and diversity to our resurgent downtown,” said DeBrand Fine Chocolates owner Tim Beere.
