UPDATE (March 3, 2023):
The Steuben County Emergency Management Agency along with the Steuben County Highway Department will continue to make available to the residents of Steuben County a sandbag filling site.
Steuben County lakes, rivers, and streams continue to see elevated water levels from recent rainfall.
Current forecasts are calling for additional precipitation this weekend that could add to already elevated levels.
As the soil remains saturated, flooding of low-lying areas will likely occur. The runoff will continue to fill streams, rivers, and lakes, leading to potential flooding. Sand and sandbags will be made available to residents of Steuben County at the County Highway Barn located at 1900 North County Road 200 West, in Angola, Indiana.
The site will be open 24 hours daily, through this coming weekend. Individuals seeking sandbags will need to provide their own shovel(s) and means of transportation for filled bags.

STEUBEN CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – Steuben County Emergency Management and the Steuben County Highway Department are offering free sandbags in light of recent rainfall causing rising water levels.
The sandbag filling site will be located at the Steuben County Highway Department at 1900 N. County Road 200 W. in Angola. It will be open Tuesday, Feb. 28, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Recent rainfall has given to rising water levels throughout the county. Steuben County lakes, rivers, and streams are starting to swell as the ground is also saturated from the winter thaw. With the anticipation that water levels in some locations will continue to rise, Steuben County Emergency Management in cooperation with the Steuben County Highway Department will make available a sandbag filling site.
The site will be located at the Steuben County Highway Department at 1900 N County Road 200 W in Angola, Indiana. The site will be open on Tuesday, February 28th, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Sand and sandbags will be available for the public. You will need to bring your own vehicle to haul the sandbags, along with your own shovel to fill the bags.
