FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Currents will present a public screening of “A League of Their Own” in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary.
The 1992 film is based on the experiences of players in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL).
The league was developed in response to a shortage of male baseball players with the onset of World War II.
ACPL representatives released the following:
Indiana had two teams – the Fort Wayne Daisies and the South Bend Blue Sox.
The film is based on a documentary of the same name produced by Kelly Candaele and based on his mother’s years as a Fort Wayne Daisies player.
The Nov. 13 screening will include a special message from Candaele.
