UPDATE (September 22, 2026):
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Google is applying for 228 more generators at its Google Data Center in southeast Fort Wayne.
Google filed an air permit modification application with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. IDEM approved their request in April to increase the number of backup generators at the site from 34 to 179.
Google says the generators will use ultra-low sulfur diesel or a renewable alternative.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Fort Wayne Google data center is requesting more diesel generators and fuel.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management posted the application from Hatchworks, LLC, which is the builder of the data center.
The Citizens Action Coalition says it is a “massive expansion” of the backup diesel generators, and they are alarmed by it.
They say on Facebook that the request would expand the number of generators at the center by nearly five times, with 179 generators added if approved.
