COLUMBUS, Ohio (ADAMS) – Many Ohioans are likely getting a record-high electricity bill this month.
New numbers from the Ohio Utility Rate Survey show residential bills that are bigger than ever for the average subscriber in Dayton, Cleveland, and Akron.
Folks in Columbus are paying up big for July power usage as well, with the average total here only a dollar less than the previous record high in May of 2024.
Rising electricity rates and the hot weather that lingered last month are contributing to the high bills. Statewide, July bills are averaging 12 percent higher than the same month last year and over 60 percent higher than July of 2015.
